About the course
This awareness course explains the operational and safety side of running a rigging loft. It introduces the functions of a loft, the use and upkeep of the rigging loft register, and the roles of the people who run it, with emphasis on controlling uncontrolled, transit and third-party equipment so that every item of lifting gear is traceable and compliant.
Participants learn to identify common faults and apply rejection criteria when examining lifting equipment, including wire ropes, cumulative discard factors, normal wear and the criteria for removal from service. Legal compliance, inspection technique and documentation run through the course.
It is aimed at people who manage rigging gear stores at rig sites, maintenance workshops, warehouses and general storage facilities.
